    Hi all,
just a quick question, i started work as a web designer about 3 months. in the last week ive started getting a headache everyday so i want to get an eye to see if that is what is causing it.
What I'm wondering is, first how much does it cost these days?
Also i was drawing the dole before I started this job, so i've only been paying prsi for the 3 months, am i entitled to claim off that?
    Thanks

AFAIK ya have to have been paying PRSI for 2-3 years to claim off it.

Eyetest in Specsavers is 27e but ya can find the odd coupon in the paper giving it to ya for 15e.

If your using a computer as part of your job, your employer can give you a vdu voucher which entitles you to a free eye test and money off glasses if theyr soley needed for vdu.

Not all employers operate this voucher system. Speak to you HR dept and see what way they operate with VDU testing.

fair enough i had figured that it would be sumthing like that, well at least €27 isnt to bad.
as far as the vdu voucher, well its only me in the office so i think thats out of the question!

    thanks

Im not 100% on this but I think eligability for PRSI goes on 2 years prior to the current year. So 2009 is based on your 2007 contributions. I know this is the case for unemployment benefit so you should double check as you may qualify.

    Check the welfare website.
