    Hey guys,

I'm moving to Ireland (Lucan) in a week from mainland europe and was wondering what the best options are for internet in lucan.

Would appreciate some help as I have no clue where to start.

Also need info on whats good for gaming and what not.

    Appreciated.

Eircom and their resellers have service from the whole lot so the Vodafone, Perlico, Imagine offers are available. LLU providers Magnet and Smart have service in half of Lucan (there's 2 exchanges and both are in one of them).

UPC have also good coverage in Lucan.

If you're moving to Adamstown area you can definitely get triple play from UPC or Magnet as they have Fibre to the home in that area. There's a lot of choices but it really depends on exactly where in Lucan as its quite a big area.

Off the top of my head, there's two exchanges for Lucan, one in the village, one in Ballydowd. The phone lines tend to follow the motorway, so can be a tad unpredictable in how long they are.

I'll be just off lucan's motorway exit, near woodies.

What advice would you give me regarding internet provider?

I'm sorry my knowledge is very limited and thus not sure what you mean by the exchanges.

Then you'll be much closer to the Ballydowd exchange. Though it's not guaranteed with Eircom involved.

The Ballydowd exchange is LLU'd, so there's the full choice of ADSL2 providers, Magnet, BT etc.

ok excellent, could i ask you what you would go for if you'd want a good connection overall and good for gaming?

I'd suggest Magnet. Though this all assumes a good and short phone line.

Magnet maintain a support area here on boards.ie

If you can get the phone number for the new place or a neighbours, they should be able to tell you plenty.

There are plenty of others about besides Magnet, so do shop around in case their packages don't suit.
