diplexer confusion

I have an aerial that picks up deflector channnels and also RTE1, RTE2, TG4 and TV3. The problem is that TG4 and TV3 are ropey - aerial probably not pointed in the right direction for them. I'm thinking about trying an indoor uhf aerial to pick these up, but only have a single coax input to the TV. So I need to know what diplexer, if any, I could use to take the signals from the two aerials, and shunt them out in a single cable. Would this sort out the ropey TV3 signal?

Where are you? Could you post the frequencies your TV is tuned to for TV3, TG4 and the deflector channels?

Sorry for delay in getting back. This is another south west Wexford location picking up uk channels from Dunmore East deflector, and national channels from Mt. Leinster. Looking at the top of the house, the national channels seem to be picked up by a now broken aerial that must be combined with the signal from the deflector receiver (uhf aerial). So the question is if I could somehow use a diplexer in the house to combine the "combined" signal fed from the external aerials, with a signal from a new internal uhf aerial (cheapie), would this sort out the problem with the poor TV3 and TG4 reception?

To be honest I think you would be better off replacing the Mount Leinster roof aerial with a new one. Probably cheaper and less hassle in the long run than fiddling around with indoor aerials that often don't give a satisfactory picture.

Also, I doubt an indoor aerial would be able to connect to a UHF combiner easily due to the types of connections used (cable is usually hard-wired in or has screw-on F connectors - indoor aerial will more than likely have a moulded male TV plug).

could someone tell me the best place to buy a diplexer?

    Thanks

Thanks. The problem with replacing the broken aerial is that it may well need two new ones - a vertical vhf for rte, and a horizontal uhf for tg4, tv3 - all of which would further complicate matters. Although at a guess the old broken aerial was a combined vhf/uhf one, though it's not clear to me how this would deal with the different signal polarities between vhf and uhf from Mt. Leinster. I may just decide to wait for DTT to go live :)
