Sky+ harddisk after cancelling

Am on verge of cancelling Sky. However I have a number of programs which have been recorded onto my Sky+ box. Can I access these if I connect the harddisk to a PC/Mac if I remove the HDD from the Sky+box? Is there encryption etc that would prevent it?

If I rejoined Sky then as a new customer later, would these recordings be available or are they tied to the CustomerID?

    TIA

You can't read the disk directly with a computer. Its formatted in a unique way. There is a program to read it but I can't find it at the minute. To my knowledge, Sky+ is now free. I just happen to have a Sky+ Box on a normal sub and I don't pay for it. If you cancel, I can't see them disabling the HD.

Thanks Ironclaw. Some programs were recorded on paid-for-stations as opposed to FTA stations. Can I presume that these would not be accessible? Would they re-activate if I took another subscription later?

If you cancel you wont be able to view content such as movies etc

Stuff on fta should be ok

I am pretty sure if you took the subscription again you would be able to view the content again as long as the box is paired to the new account :)

nope, anything recorded is not accessible when you cancel.

you can copy the recordings using copy+ but is of no use as you still need a valid sub to view them. (can be used when upgrading hard drive)
