Anyone know if there are public/police cctv cameras in Temple Bar or only in business establishments?

raindog i would ask the same question about the amount of survaillence cameras on the Phibsborogh Rd between Monk Pl and Doyles Corner none of them appear to be for security as in looking down at an entrances but across the road at other houses and as for the one on the side of the old AIB bank looking towords the Mater Hospital hosp, who ownes them who is watching who for what.

There are three main groups of cameras in the city.

    1. Garda operated - these tend to be on stand alone poles and tend to have a garda logo on them. They are predominantly in the city centre, but may be in other areas.

    2. Council traffic cameras - again these tend to be on stand alone poles or possibly traffic lights / street lamps. http://www.dublincity.ie/RoadsandTraffic/Traffic/Pages/TrafficCamerasMap.aspx

    3. Private cameras - these tend to be operated by businesses or residents and tend to be on the building.

Not that I've been looking, but I've never noticed one of these.

There are a LOT of cameras but 90% of them are either not monitor or not even connected up to anything?!?!!?!?
