Frame size 56cm would fit me?

    Hi guys,
I just ordered TREK 1.5 2010 with frame size 56cm. However, I'm not sure if it would fit me perfectly considering my height 177cm tall(Apologies, I only know in cm...:()

Would 56cm fit me? I got a spin at the shop actually and I felt it was alright but it was just tight and the guy who gave me a spin on it said it would be fine for me and not suitable for any bigger one.

My friend told that a bit smaller one would be better after all...

How to know what size would be perfect for me?

    Thanks a lot.

I'm 5'7" (170cm) and a 54cm Trek road bike frame fits me perfectly. Have you tried riding a 58cm bike? I found with the 56cm version that I had to stretch a bit to reach the brake levers and was a quite shaky on the bike as a result.

Hm.. if 54cm fits for 170cm then 56cm must be perfect for me(177cm). I didn't try 58cm. Actually there was only one stock(56cm).
However, I was told that smaller one is better than bigger one for aero position when you pull up the saddle.

56cm Trek 1.5 has a 557mm effective top tube, which is about right for a 180cm rider.

So at 177cm it might be a fraction large for an average person your height, but completely depends on your individual requirements. You can shorten the reach if necessary with a shorter stem. In any case the next size down (54cm, with a 538mm top tube) would probably be too small.

IMO larger frames bikes are more comfortable than smaller (assuming the same reach) because you'll have a longer head tube thus more upright position. Going smaller than your size is only recommended if you have very good flexibility and core strength.

If you don't know your bike size, it's most likely that getting aero will not be your limiting factor.

im 6`2 and use a 55 frame bike, my saddle is up a fair bit luike, but if i got a bigger frame, id be reaching too far for the bars

im sure you`ll be fine with your frame, its not as easy as, "ah, you`re this heightso you must use this frame"

Okay. Thanks for both answers. I would go to the shop gain and get a proper spin to measure a right size for me.

    Thanks guys.
