XPS M1710 Battery problems

    I have an XPS M1710. The battery is not detected in the bios. I get five green lights, when I test the battery. A orange battery light comes on when I unplug the ac. The laptop stays running but only for about ten minutes. Dec

    You're battery is dead.
    Solution: Buy a new one.
    Simple as.

    If it was that simple. As I said in my post. all green lights come on the battery, Which would indicate to me the battery is fully charged. The fact that it is not even a year old, also makes me think there is another problem.

    My battery does the same. All lights light up green. However it will only run for about 2 seconds on battery before it dies. My laptop shows an orange light when i plug in the ac too. Btw, my laptop is a Dell 6400, battery was completely dead in about a year and a half. It's not unusual. Dell batteries are ****e.
    Buy a new battery and you'll be flyin.
