Hi all i just started to cycle on my road bike in June and i am really enjoying it have spent a fortune on lots of equipment [ thank god the credit card is in my name]. So anyway i did a mini tri athlon this weekend and since June i have been training hard and it paid off i have lost 3 1/2 stone and finished third in my group of 18. But the most pleasing part of this is my team mate is super fit and i finished the bike part within 2 mins of his time and overall 11 mins off his time.:D:D

So with the winter coming [looking out the window i think it has arrived] what sort of training would you guys recomend to keep losing the weight and get fitter.

When your new the best training is probably just to keep consistently getting the miles in. Consistency is the key, get out on your bike be it for 1 or 100kms. Same with the running & swimming, though with swimming a bit of coaching on your stroke is seldom wasted.

Have a look for a cycling or triathlon club, most will have regular Saturday/Sunday rides over the winter. These should cater for beginners and those more advanced. Where are you based?
