I bought an second and iphone recently and it was working perfectly with my o2 sim until i connected it to itunes to find out it was bought in america and is now blocked, i've had it unblocked but can no longer use the features. Its saying i need an american address and network.

I was hoping there might be some way in which i could unblock it as its stuck after itunes again(i was trying it on a different computer didn't know the problem at the time). Its very frustrating and i've been in touch with apple who insist i have to have american address and set up a debit account with their network but there must be some way around it :(

You can jailbreak (free the iPhone to use non-Apple or app store software and do neat tricks to the OS like video recording on a first gen or 3G iPhone) and unlock (free it from the network it's linked to and use it on any network worldwide) all the way up to the very last update (3.0.1) so just jump onto this site and follow the instructions, initially for redsn0w which will "jailbreak" it, then unlocking is easy afterwards :)

projectmayhem is right. And nope, O2 won't unlock your iPhone for you unfortunately :(

The Italian Embassy should set up a Macstore selling open iPhones. And the US Embassy should set up a general shop where you can buy/order everything at dollar prices.
