This is driving me absolutely mental to the point where I spend a lot of the day thinking about it. Basically I have extremely ugly veins that tend to make an unwelcome appearance from time to time. I have a terrible tendency to keep my arms elevated so that the blood does not flow in that direction. I've avoided certain situations because of this - an example would be cooking a meal as I actually cannot bear to look at them. I'm constantly checking them and I don't know how to stop this :(

Do you hate veins in general?
As in would you judge someone else if you seen veins on there hands?
Or is it only your own that bother you?

If so why do you hate them? Do you think they are un-natural?
Or is it that you see some others without a single vein on their hands and envy them? making you belive that because yours show that they are better then you somehow?

The reason i ask as its usually where the issue lies.
The veins themselfs are perfectly normal to be visible, they can get larger from time to time based on you mood, its also known as a sign of being in good health too :) aka, having good curculation system.

I know how you feel. I have a rather large scar on my left arm from two surgeries after I broke my elbow a couple of years ago and I used to be extremely self conscious about it. If I ever wore short sleeves I'd be constantly trying to hide it, walking around with my arms folded and trying to cover it with my hand etc. I was convinced everyone was looking at me, saying, "Oooh, look at that girl with the ugly scar on her arm"!

I said it to a friend of mine, that I was losing my confidence over it and he said, "Scar?! Show me! I never knew you had a scar!".... This was a guy I actually went out with for a good while so there was ample opportunity for it to have been spotted!

What I am trying to say is that sometimes we build these things up in our heads and convince ourselves that we are ugly or whatever, when in reality no one even notices! You need to remember that while you are worrying about your arms, I'm too busy worrying you'll think my scar is awful to even notice you have an imperfection and everybody else is worrying about something about themselves too!

However, it does seem to me that you are a wee bit more concerned about your arms than I was about mine and if they are stopping you doing things in life, like cooking, then I suggest that maybe you see a doctor for some reassurance or perhaps, treatment. Also, veins are perfectly natural so if you are simply referring to veins like everyone has, as opposed to maybe more visible 'problem' veins then I definitely suggest you speak to a professional about this. Best of luck :)

No, I don't have any issues with veins in general. Just feel as if mine are far worse looking than other peoples. I have developed an annoying habit where I look at other peoples hands and arms and see what theirs are like. I think this is slowly driving me mad.

I know it's normal to have veins but I can't help the way I feel.

    Thanks.
