1.9 TDi 90 Remap question

    Hey all,
I am considering a remap in the future and I have looked at a few websites that offer them.

A came across something odd though.
Many of the sites said they remapped the TDI90 to 116bhp so I assumed that was the safe maximum. Then one site said it went up to 121bhp.
So Im in a bit of a muddle. Would the 121bhp be too much and end up blowing the turbo?
A member of TDIclub said that even with the 121bhp remap the fuel injection wouldn't push the turbo to the edge.

I was wondering if there are any TDi mechanics here that could shed some light on it.

Im leaning towards the 116bhp at the moment but if the 121 is safe and doesnt effect the MPG much if at all then I would go for that.

    Thanks
    bbk

as far as i know, safe increase is between 30-40%power gain, i know a lad that had a passat mapped from 90 to 120 and he had no trouble
btw 116 and 121 is nearly the same, i doubt that 5bhp would put any strain on a turbo, the end figure would depend on engines overall condition wheter it was maintained well or not
i heard its recommended to put small intercooler to ensure engines better performance and longevity

    Thanks for the reply.

I suppose 5hp is rather small now that I think of it.:P
As far as I know there is an intercooler in the TDi anyway.

The car in general has been kept extremely well and the engine is perfect.

    Thanks for the input!

im not sure there is intercooler in 90 and 115 bhp,
it was the 130bhp onwards that had the intercooler fitted standard but im not 100% sure bout that one, ask a mechanic about it b4 doing remap, small coolers are cheap enough

I was doing a little checking and it looks like my TDI has an intercooler, (AGR engine tag) but it looks like maybe the PD TDI's with the power output you mentioned dont have the intercooler, I could be wrong there though since I used Wiki for that.
