Hey, travelling to Bangkok on business in a few weeks...

I HATE flying! ..the most recent air france disaster has got me a bit worked up...

Anyway, I'm on a budget so have a limited choice of airlines, can any1 give their opinion on my options below?

    Opt 1: Dub-London(aer lingus), London-Doha and Doha-Bkk(Qatar Airways)

Opt 2: Dub-Ams(aer lingus or BMI) Ams-Bkk(China Airlines)

Opt 3: Dub to London(aer lingus) London to Bahrain(Jet airways India-on behalf of Gulf Air) Bahrain-Bkk(Gulf Air)

Opt 4: I usually fly with Etihad, Dub-Auh, Auh-Bkk..but they are a bit expensive this time around...

    Thanks.

    Safer than what, exactly?

All air travel carries an inherent element of risk, and no trip will ever be risk free. However, the odds of something actually happening are quite infinitesimal. Even since the Air France crash, the amount of successful takes offs and landings across the planet increases every second :)

With regard to the airlines you've mentioned, none of the above would make me panic overly. China Airlines obvious is the most convenient outside of Etihad. They used to have a bad reputation, safety wise (then again, quite a few airlines in that part of the world used to), but they have come on leaps and bounds in the last decade.

go with the first option. Then you avoid china airlines, whose rep may not be as good as the others, and you avoid having to take 3 seperate flights (option 3)

1st option 3 seperate flights also..

I like the idea of only 2 flights but something is telling me to avoid china airlines..

cheapest apart from china airlines is gulf air\Jet airlines...

    any1 heard of Jet Airlines?

Option 1 is the one I'd pick from your list.

Have you looked at connections via Amsterdam or Frankfurt? Might give you better two-stop options.

I have flown Qatar Airways and nothing on board you could complain about. VOD with a nice selection.

    BA not having anything?

Only if you need to contact your customer service is where they are bad.

I had to change a flight from Dublin out at they did everything bar reissue the tickets which resulted in me paying to sit on the same plane as I had a seat on already.

OP, you do realise your journey to the airport is the most dangerous bit?

I've flown with China Air a couple of times and to be honest I found them to be fine.

Have you looked at Lufthansa from Dublin to Frankfurt and on to Bangkok? Then you have only the two flights.

If you are really nervous then take a one-stop option to make it as easy (and safe) as possible. There are loads of one-stop options including Amsterdam, Paris, Heathrow, Frankfurt, Zurich and Abu Dhabi.
