bike to work scheme

    i'm purchasing a new road racer on the bike to work scene and am looking for advice on what to buy. i have an approved allowance of 1000 but can add alittle extra if needed for clothing etc. shold i buy traditional racing bars or the flat bars.i am new to road racing and i need to shift some excess weight..........need advice quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!icon10.gif

    I recommend that you buy a red bike - it has been scientifically proven that red bikes go faster than all others.

    Oh and my preference would be drop bars because they give more hand positions than flat bars and will be more comfortable over longer rides. If you plan to stick to shorter rides, then flat bars would be ok.
