Is there anywhere in Dublin or surrounding counties where, as a complete beginner, I can get private flying lessons? Also, am I going to be charged a fair whack no matter where I go or is there any hope that I'd get anything at a slightly more reasonable price than the 230 squids I saw online somewhere? Thanks! :)

give weston airport a call and ask.

each lesson will be about €200ish (maybe cheaper) .... you can get packages from some online places but you'd get it cheaper by calling the airport and/or talking to plane/helicopter owners/instructors.

I'm doing my PPL out in Weston with NFC. It's €195 p.h for a C152 + €5 landing fee or €3 per touch and go.

Professional instructors and good facilities, my only complaint is that it's so expensive no matter where you go!

    Happy flying!

You could look into the flying clubs.... Leinster / airport flyers / dublin flyers and a few down in kilkenny..
One of the above will charge 600/yr membership and 120euro per hour including instructor... Its a club so things go at a slower pace but if your in no rush they can be ideal for training and aircraft availability can be great.
The instructors will generally be club members and as such they dont charge for instruction, have a chat with them and before you know it you could be up weekly wx dependant of course.
So if your in no rush id advise to go with the clubs, all of which will differ on membership fees and aircraft type etc etc.., and if you happen to be a student the membership fees can be alot less also...
PM me if you want more info..

I know people training out in weston and to be honest the costs some people are charging are ridiculous for briefings and equipment/books etc etc, No doubt they have good intentions but charging above and beyond for books etc is robbery.... Research research research jesica
