Applying for the grant with 1 parent..

    Just curious:

I have 1 parent, (mother passed away a few years ago). My dad is receiving a widowers pension of some sort. At the moment, his income is low enough so I am eligible for a grant, however if we include the pension, it goes over the limit. So, let's say Income+NoPension = Grant. Income+Pension=NoGrant.

So, I am wondering if the Widows pension will affect us or not. Cheers.

my aunty enquired for me about grant and from what she was told payments from social welfare are not taken into account even though you have to put them on the app form, so give it a go

Only the following social welfare payments are excluded from the reckonable income:
Child Benefit; Family Income Supplement; Disability Allowance (where paid to the candidate); Blind Pension (where paid to the candidate); One Parent Family Payment (Means-tested); Guardian's Payment (previously known as Orphan's Pension); Back to Education Allowance (Second Level and Third Level Option); Foster Care Allowance; Domiciliary Care Allowance; Carer's Allowance.

The One Parent Family payment is the new name for the Deserted Wives and the Widower's pension
So perhaps its not taken into account....

    Worth a try?
