    hey all,

i am looking for the best way to put on some big horse racing bets...
i would be talking about bets in the region of €30k-€60k.
what is the best way to do so in order for the price not to collapse and for me to get the best possible average price?
does anyone have experience doing this?

    thanks

It depends on the liquidity in the market. For example, a couple of grand might only be matched on a race in ballinrobe on a tuesday evening versus a group one in York which could attract thousands..

A bet in the region of e30-e60 is gonna still have a significant impact on the market thou!

Is there a gamble on the way?

Are you going to trust 30-60K on the advice of strangers on an internet forum? Brave. Best of luck.

You sound like a professional gambler in stake money terms...but thats about it.

Asking such a question on here with 1 post to your name says it all.

There's not many bookmakers who even take bets that big. You're not going to get a 50 grand bet on at your local Boylesports. There's a small few on-course bookies that take large bets, I don't know what their limit would be though, but I know at the big meetings like Cheltenham bets of 30-40K wouldn't be that unusual.

Isn't that why you'd spread it around? Surely you'd have a few of your mates all go into bookies around the same time and out 10k on each.

bookies start ringing head office with 200e or so sometime! On course is the only hope to get a lot on. Dirty dave (Hyland) is your man.

you could get a couple of grand on early prices (although anything substantial will have a big impact on the price), then all line up at the bookies and hit them!

    Good luck betting!

I had 40 eu ew on an 8/1 shot last week in Boyles and the young lad rang the head office before he took it. Said the ew part of the market was weak so he had to ring???????

    Fcuking joke to be honest.

That was ridiculous, calling head office for a 40ew bet is laughable. I hope the guy in head office told him to cop himself on.

i used to work in Ladbrokes and it was appalling the times i had to get permission off head office to accept a bet.

If the return is something over 250 euro a warning comes up on screen and you then have to click verify - you then get permission or you don't..

This is why we need to change to the full tote/pool system. All bets can be placed, bigger return to the industry and we don't have to worry about the tight bookies anymore. Well you could let them stand at race meetings for a small fee!! lol

The op must be busy trying to get it all on!

The best chance Op has is to get 250 people to hit bookies in ROI, 50 in NIR and 700 in UK and get 30euro/Stir equivelent on. Best have a twitter account so he can tell them all to do things at exactly the same time:D
