Missed signing on day?

I made a genuine mistake this month and missed my signing day. Which was tues last i.e. the 25th.

My daughter had her first day at school on the weds 26th (it was the main event for the week obviously) and I spent a lot of time on this week running around getting ready for it.

Plus I had it in my head that the signing day was the last tues of the month and didn't realise that the last tues came so early i.e the 25th of Aug.

I only realised my mistake late on Friday and called into the enquires desk at 3pm in a bit of a panic where they informed me that I can only state my reasons and 'case' on the next Friday, (apparently the window of missing signing and consequent explanation is between 9.30am and 12pm on Friday only?).

This means I can only state my case on the 4th of September according to the information from the enquiries desk.

I'm a bit worried about this as I really cannot afford to lose any days due to this mistake. Especially with the bills coming in ect.

Should I wait until the 4th of September to state my case briefly at a hatch, or should I write them a letter explaining my error?

Any advice on this would be very much appreciated

If you tell them you were too busy to sign on, they will say that that means you were too busy to work so are not really seeking a job. So don't say that - just say you mixed up dates in diary.

Go in asap. Be civil and don't say you were too busy or come up with an excuse that is over complex.

Try not to do it again too!

    Good luck...

Thanks lads. Everything worked out fine. Just explained things briefly to them about how I was pre-occupied and missed the date on the calendar and I apologised as well.

They were v.civil about it and didn't give me a hard time or cut me off or anything. Such a relief.
