I just saw the trailer a few minutes ago. This is the first I've heard of this film. I think it looks promising.

It's a comedy staring George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey.

In this quirky dark comedy inspired by a real life story you will hardly believe is actually true, astonishing revelations about a top-secret wing of the U.S. military come to light when a reporter encounters an enigmatic Special Forces operator on a mind-boggling mission.

I got the book as a present a couple of years ago if you get a chance give it a read before the movie is released. Interesting read.

Watched the TV adaption of the book (with Jon Ronson looking ever so slightly bemused in a straightfaced sort of way), no doubt the film will try to be some sort of "retro stoner" interpretation after all The Dude is in it. :)

Here is a clip from the Channel 4 series

I bet this out-wierds anything in the movie

Is the George Clooney "I've been reactivated" character based on Uri Geller? As far as I remember he's the one who claimed that in the book.

    Introducing the Predator (TM):

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

It looks kooky but I will probably take a look when it is released.

    George Clooney - Jedi Knight?

Looks like fun, but Ewan McGregor really can't do accents can he? :P That's two dodgy accents in a row after Angels and Demons.

Isn't all the this stuff supposed be based on actual events, supposedly? Or is it just a piss take?

Naw I think it's based on truth; I vaguely recall that the US did experiment with "psychic" soldiers, during the Cold War. Remote viewing I believe it was called. Though this looks like it's set in modern day?

That film actually looks kinda funny; the guy may be smugness personified, but I do enjoy George Clooney's comic turns, as he usually sends himself up a good bit :)

I remember being shocked one day reading time magazine seeing a picture of PSYOPS soldiers all dressed in black from head to toe like some ninja assassins, they where throwing sweats out of the top of their humvee to local kids in Iraq. I just thought "holy****! Those guys are real?"
The guys in that film/book where supposed to be some of the the first members of that division weren't they?
It's been a while since I read the book.
