Tesco in Tramore has closed for today and tommrow while they switch to the border prices as part of the "Change for Good" campaign. They are also offering more products for sale. Tesco Ardkeen has recently made the move, amongst other shops around the country, and plenty have seen a big difference price wise.

That will explain why Super Value have signs up at each enterance to Tramore advertising their own national price-cut campaign (along with SuperQuinn and Dunnes :p).

It really annoys me when you hear about these cuts as well as all the other ads on radio where companies are blowing their trumpets about slashing prices up to 50% cos it just acknowledges that they were ripping us off all this time and now we should support them cos they've lowered their prices!

Truth in what you're saying there , but what I believe Tesco are doing is changing suppliers and engaging in aggressive price cutting with others, overall this will probably hurt the Irish economy as they source their supplies from cheaper sources , but we can't go on the way we are we can't afford too but no doubt more jobs will be lost alongside the tax revenues because of Tesco's shift but this is what any good government would have been safeguarding against in our Boomier times.
BTW a lot of other businesses have been reducing prices just to keep turnover , very little profit is being made in a lot of sectors, furniture, tiles, electrical etc these businesses have also cut wages, jobs, overtime etc.

Aye, as above really. They are only cheaper because they moved further away from Irish suppliers who seemed to be the cause of high prices. They were getting a lot of rap about being cheaper around the border areas and expensive down here etc. Since doing so other supermarkets have managed to reduce prices also.
