    Have 1gb ram - pc3200
    Have 256mb ram - pc2100

Is it better to just have the 1gb one in , or two have the 2 lots in ?
The pc is used for the internet and some gaming , i am wondering what way would make the pc faster ..

    Depends on your motherboard.

If your motherboard is rated for RAM at pc2100 max, then the pc3200 is ramped down to run like pc2100 anyway, so using the 256MB pc2100 doesn't matter, will be better to have both modules in.

If your motherboard is rated for RAM at pc3200, and you use both modules, then both modules will run at the slower speed of pc2100.

Using for internet, office, etc, slower speed probably isn't going to make much of a difference, and if multitasking heavily with general office applications, you might be better off with both, even if speed reduced to pc2100.

Might make a dfference with gaming though, and again, would depend on other things like types of games, age (recent), and strength of graphics card in there too.
