My gumline has receded quite badly. If there is no danger of my tooth coming out can it be cosmetically improved? I've heard gum grafts do work, has anyone ever had this done & did it help?

Gum grafts do work in certain cases very well, somethime they need to be done more than once. You really need to see a dental specialist called a periodontist who has specal training in these delicate proceedures. If you PM me your location I cam reccomend one for you or you can ask you general dentist for advice.

I would rather keep our discussion on the forum...."Why only in some cases, is it only in very mild cases they work? " - yes indeed, depending on how much bone is left inbetween the teeth and how deep the recession defect is you will get variable results. If is only mild then usually you get a good result. If it is very severe you may not. Again I would reccomend you see a periodontist as this is not my area of expertise, I have however seen it work very well in a number of cases.

Go and see a periodontist. You asked me the same questions via pm.
