I will have to pay 80 euro on top of that but will get inFamous and an extra controller!

A main reason i want to trade it is for the extra warranty.

    Is it worth it?

    Nope, your wasting your money.

Not only do the older units look better but there are no guarantees that the new units are going to be as reliable by any means (nor is there proof that they wont be).
I know you will have warranty for a year if you get a new one but the fact that the price has dropped to €300 leads me to believe that they will be trying to produce a lot more of them to meet demand.

When they first came out and were around €600 so there were less units in production and hence quality control was perfect. I never had an ounce of trouble with it and i bought it soon after release.

Why change something thats working perfectly well for you already?

you really trust those original dual-laser blu-ray models? mine just got the rather infamous error code 80010514, very common blu-ray lens failure in the original 60gb. good timing huh.

anyone who has a working PS3 yet buying the slim is a 1st world nonce

Where are they accepting trade-ins for ps3's? I have a launch 60GB and want to trade it in for the slim. Any idea of trade in values?

Have a look around the 1st or second page - Plenty of examples. I got €210 for a 60GB yesterday and got a new 80GB with a s/h game

yes !!!!!!! I bought the 60 gig model on release date for 630 euro, it broke 11 months later(laser). i had lost the receipt. sony replaced it with an other 60 gig refurbished model. it broke after 3 and a half months.(only came with 3 months warranty).(yellow light of death).sony wanted 250 euro at the time to fix it.(now they charge 160 euro). So i bought an 80 gig model for 399 euro, I have had it for a year and 3 months, it stopped working a few days ago.(laser).I will get it fixed and trade it for the new slim model with god of war 3, new controller and 1 year warranty included. hope that helps.

I don't think nonce means what you think it means. Although I haven't seen statistics. Maybe there is a high proportion of people trading in working PS3s for slims who are in fact paedophiles.
