Sky/FTA set up - what cable?

We have Sky HD set up at home and I was thinking of running a FTA box from the quad LNB thats in place.

I've read a few threads and it seems easy enough to do but I was just wondering what cable do I need to use? standard coax cable? Is that the same cable that runs form the NTL box to the back off the TV?

Also, would you get the same FTA stations from a sky box as a dedicated FTA box? The only difference is that the FTA box has added functionality in terms of menus, 7 day tv guide etc?

I use bog standard co-ax, its over 40 metres long and delivers a strong enough signal.

Cool, thanks for the reply. An ideas on the FTA box or Sky box Qs?

Tx-100 if you are going over 20-30 metres, a bit more expensive but worth it. You will also need two F connectors.

I have a Sky dish in FTA mode and find its usability grand, full programme details on EPG, the schedule runs for 7 days.

No such thing as bog standard coax, there are many types all designed for specific applications. At the very least you should use RG6 but for a little extra you can get CAI approved tx 100 cable.
