Hey mike check freecycle.org dublin group or freetrade on dublinwaste.ie - sometimes people give away bikes (you have to be very quick though) or you could post a wanted ad either - might work if you beg sufficiently! Think adverts.ie also have a free section. Good luck!

thanks for the replys. that Rothar place sounds kewl, and just what I'm looking for - somewhere to get a really old basic bike for short trips, nothing fancy, that if it gets nicked isn't going to be the end of the world.

thought i might reply to this thread seeing as i trekked all the way across the city today to visit rothar.ie, i thought it looked like a great place on their website and i still think its a really good idea but there are hardly any bikes there at all, infact they only had one operating bike on offer today when i went over and the guy in there told me it had a dodgy back wheel. and the place is tiny! looks like a big workshop on the website but its actually just a small garage type building down a lane in Phibsboro, about as big as my sitting room!lots of bits and pieces lying around, parts off old bikes, might be worth going to if our looking for a part.

anyway, im posting, not to discourage people from going here, because it really is a good thing these guys are doing, but anyone thinking of heading over there should make sure they ring first and find out if there is anything available.
