I was about to buy a usb dongle off Amazon for 29euro and they added 26 euro on as shipping and handling???? What friggin handling does a feckin usb stick need??? It's simple put it in an envelope and post it to me with a normal stamp.... How does that equate to 26 euro????

Because once it comes to you broken in transit you'll be demanding a refund.

There's usually a few shipping options with Amazon. Sounds to me like you had clicked or it defaulted to 1-2 day courier instead of 3-5 regular post.

Also you'll always pay high shipping to get stuff shipped from the states.

TBH, they can charge what they like.....also, rather than complaining about postage costs from US/UK, shouldn't we all be more annoyed that we can't pick up these items in our own country for a reasonable price?

OP, I'm assuming the lack of availability/high price in this country is what drove you to be considering buying from the states?

Give me a link to this USB Dongle, and I'll check if I know of a place that sells & delivers them cheaply...

Same happened to me, ordering a book. I emailed them giving out and they refunded me 75% of the shipping. No questions asked, amount credited to my account the next day.

What I was intending to buy was a very specific and hard to get USB dongle with a certain chipset. I only found it for sale on Amazon as there was none on Ebay etc. and even Google only provided drivers and reviews etc. I know there is vat etc. added on but nearly the same price as the device I wanted!!! That is absolute robbery!

Then don't buy it. The cost of shipping has nothing to do with the cost of what you're buying. It's about size, weight and priority only. Could it be that you selected the priority shipping, which is expensive?

You still haven't given a link, as requested. People should always give links when posting in this section so people can see if you missed something. Also the other poster was going to have a search for you, on sites you might not know of.

Was this actually amazon themselves you were buying from, or a third party who advertise on amazon.

I just checked the postage on a memory stick, and it came to £4.75 Sterling for standard airmail.

Sounds interesting. Due to a lack of any link, I'm dubious on how legit it is.
