Do i need to insulate my chicken coop for the winter ?

    I have a plywood coop outside and have never insulated it, although it's in a sheltered spot from prevailing winds.

    The hens all cluster together and fluff up their feathers if it's cold, they are tougher than we think.

    Only thing to remember is you'll have to bring in their water supply at night or remember to defrost it in the morning.

    Unless you use artificial light they will stop laying over the winter. As for the insulation - would you sleep in your hen house? No - insulate it a bit...
