how can you tell if your tvis hd ready?

    I have just ordered sky hd but I don't know if my tv is hd ready?? is there a way to find out its a Panasonic Viera I don't know the model number its almost 3 years old???


    Would any of you wonderful techo geniuses be able to tell me how to find out??

    The model number should be on a label on the back of the tv, then google is your friend.

    if its a viera then its HD ready. might not be full hd, but for sky HD that doesnt matter

    thanks for that its wall mounted and i cant see the back but at least i know it will work with sky thanks a million.

    OK so I managed to find out the model number but have googled it and can find out hardly anything do any of you guy's know if the Panasonic Viera TH37PD60 is going to be any good for HD. The kids are asking for a TV for xmas so I was thinking of giving them this one and buying a new one... well thats if its not good fro HD. So any advice on whether to give this to the kids and get a good one and if so any recommendations for a good TV that wont cost me thousands???

    I've just had a quick look at the specs in the user manual. It appears that the model you quote has a HDMI input which means that it will work with a Sky HD box via the HDMI connection. However, the resolution of the TV is less than HD output of the Sky HD box. While the TV will take say a 720p or 1080i signal, it will downscale it as the native resolution of the unit is 852x480. You may see a minor improvement with a HD source but you will not get the full benefit of HDTV.
