    Hi Everyone
My first post here but hopefully won't be the last.
I'm seriously considering making the move to a macbook pro. I'll be getting the 13" with a 250gb hard drive. Its all just personal use internet bit of downloading etc.
My major question is is it worth the extra cash over a windows machine? Is the build quality long lasting? I'll be needing to keep it at least 3 years- is that sort of time frame realistic and are they easy to upgrade?
I use safari on a vista machine after numerous problems with firefox and chrome and I like it a lot.
How easy will it be to get my itunes onto the macbook?

Also I'm due to visit America soon and may purchase there. Apple shop in PC world told me the warranty is world wide how accurate is this if problems occur?
And finally what are the voltage issues- what would I need to buy?
I know theres a lot of questions here but I want to get this purchase right,
I would really appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks

    Hey, iseethelight.
My major question is is it worth the extra cash over a windows machine?
    Imo, yes, absolutely.
Is the build quality long lasting?
The aluminium is very solid to touch and feels very sturdy and well-made compared to a plastic notebook. However, unlike plastic, they dent quite easily, so you certainly wouldn't want to drop it. As long as you take care of it, it will be fine.
I'll be needing to keep it at least 3 years- is that sort of time frame realistic and are they easy to upgrade?
It is very easy to upgrade the RAM and HDD on the current MBPs.

You should certainly get 3 years out of a MBP. For peace of mind, I would recommend getting Applecare to ensure this. You can get it any time within the first year of warranty. Keep in mind, however, it's not insurance and won't cover accidental damage.
How easy will it be to get my itunes onto the macbook?
Apple have a guide here for doing this using your iPod.

I don't have experience with this though, so someone else might have a better suggestion.
Also I'm due to visit America soon and may purchase there. Apple shop in PC world told me the warranty is world wide how accurate is this if problems occur?
Yeah, the warranty will be honoured over here.
And finally what are the voltage issues- what would I need to buy?
No, it has a universal power supply.

Defiantly buy in America if you can wait. Great savings to be had!

    Savings indeed!

Regards lifespan, I've had a macbook since 2004 and never any problems. Still runs smooth and as new.

Totally worth the extra cash, migrating over.
