Does anyone have a tv with internet capability? Are these widgets of any practicle use or just a reason to add another €100 to a tv?

Are there tvs which go beyond the widget thingys and give further internet capability?

    Hey,

I have the Philips 42PFL9664H and it has internet capability. It has a small number of sites that are tailored specifically for the TV (youtube, news site, weather, etc) but it does also allow you to surf any other website which is something that the Samsung can't do afaik. It is a bit slower than say on a PC and you have to text type text in, but apart from that it does a pretty good job.

Another big advantage of the internet capability is that the TV checks for updates and can download them automatically. Saves hassle of having to check manually, downloading to USB, etc.

My opinion would be that having internet capability does not rank high on what I look for in a TV. Performance, quality of image, sound and price would be more influential. But if it has it, it's a nice feature at times.
