Student Discount Ireland and UK

I'm going to be ordering a new MacBook Pro from the Apple Store over the weekend and I was just wondering if anyone knew if the student discount for the educational store is the same for Ireland and the UK?

I'm studying in Chester, UK but I was told I could order it from the Irish store and still get the discount. I calculated the Irish discount to be about 8% but I can't work out the UK discount as you have to be connected to the University's network to order it online in the UK store (stupid!). Anyone know if it will also be 8%? I've been told by some people that it might be closer to 15%.

I'm trying to work out which would be the better option for me before I call them tomorrow.

    So excited to get one!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help :)

It depends on the college you go to - the regular student discount goes from 5% to 10% (ish). If you can't get onto your current student network then call the Apple Education store and check your price on 1800 92 38 98.

Currently, if you buy a mac and an iPod touch at the same time you get the cost of the touch back in a rebate as well as an education discount. The savings equate to between 22% and 25% off the combined purchase of a MacBook and iPod touch when compared to retail pricing. The offer ends Sept 8th. Here's a link http://www.apple.com/ie/go/studentoffer

(For the record I don't work for Apple)

As previous poster said it depends on the college you're in, when I was in UCD they had a ~13% discount in Sept & Jan i.e. start of each semester but then this dropped back to 7-10% for the rest of the year IIRC
