Hi guys ive recently had aptus rural broadband installed in my home in carlow, its called the rural broadband package you can view on there site www.aptus.ie its pretty consistent and it is 3mb download, 384k upload. i have an xbox 360 in the house and i can connect to xbox live send messages etc etc but CANNOT accept private chats and cannot seem to join games or anything i thought at first it may be my router so i plugged the internet straight in, is there anyone out there who can help me as its very frustrating to think i cant access xbox live even though everything seems to work im actually stumped, could it be that my upload speed is too slow?? i thought it woul be sufficient , does anyone have any past experience with this? thanks for your help.

Sounds like the NAT settings could be at fault on your router had the same problem when I set up live first not using aptus though. Do you pass all the tests in the network settings on the xbox.

yea i pass all the tests and it connects to live only problem is it doesnt find games or anything i plugged it straight into the internet connection and it still didnt do it,, nat shouldnt be a problem with it as this router was fine with digiweb, maybe isp im thinking but not sure :(

If it's not your NAT/ports or your connection QoS, could it be the Firmware on your Xbox? Perhaps try updating.

everything up to date, for example i send message it sends they recieve, i send private chat they recieve , accept but it only says joining chat connection never made i search for games on GoW2 it will search but will not find any players, i even left it for 2 HOURS searching direct from modem and not one player found, originally i thought maybe speeds not good but they very consistent averaging round 320k upload and 2.8mb download im all outta ideas only thing could be is on xbox lives end or isp

If it's not your Xbox, and since the ports on your end are not blocked (seeing as you used your modem), then I'd have to suggest that your ISP is blocking the ports Xbox Live! uses. Why? I have no idea, it's not a bandwidth hog. Perhaps, if not that, the network itself is incapable of Xbox Live!

Call your ISP's support team up and ask for the answers. Are there any fixed line broadband providers that you can get, or are you too far out in the countryside?

Sounds like a NAT/port forwarding problem. You might want to ask Aptus to forward whatever ports XBox Live needs in the CPE or even their AP etc.
