Any of you ever watch the series of programmes first made in 1964 when they got 14 seven year old children of various backgrounds in England - rich, poor, city, country, black, orphanded etc interviewed them asking their opinions on what they would like to be when they grow up etc and then returning every 7 years to see how they got on. I first seen it when they were 35, but it did show the earlier ones to give you the background of the people invovled. The last one I had to get on DVD and they were 49 years old. Filming for the next installment in the series, 56 Up, is expected in late 2011 or early 2012.

So, any of you ever see it, it's a fascinating documentary if you have ?

    Here's a wiki about it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Up_series

Yes have watched it. Very depressing that one character was in it ended up living rough and roaming Britain, lost and depressed himself. :(
He started out with such high hopes when young.

By the way, this belongs in the TV section.

Yeah, but he'd started turning his life around after the last episode, hope he's still ok.

Yea, would love to know of an update. I hope things got better for him.
The nation felt for him at the time. Heartbreaking.

C4 also started a similar series when they first started broadcasting in 1982. I think it was called 'Citizen 2000'.

Glad to see a few have seen it, was afraid I might be the only one as I have mentioned it from time to time at work, pub etc but only knew one person who did. Yeah, Neil was the only one to go through a bad experience, altough one of teh three girls Sue had developed health issues with arthritis or something.
I thought Tony was the most interesting character, he's was a real Denis the menace as a young lad !!! Done well for himself in life, apart from the fling or two he had with other women

    Everyone remembers Neil alright.

Also, I seem to remember one fella who started out in an orphanage & settled in Australia IIRC.
