Toyota wanted €141 for a pair of front anti-roll bar drop links (not fitted), managed to get them for €32 spurious in a local motorfactors, pure scandal!!

Changed them a few times before on other cars but a bit of a mark up none the less.

What ya think are spurious parts worth it compared to orginal parts????

Some parts yes, some parts no.
Oil filter is always worth paying the extra for imo. Now I dont mean going to a dealer but I mean getting one by the original manufacturer not a cheap copy.
Some bushes have been known to be a waste of money spurious, Partner vans particularily although even genuine ones were never too long lasting in these.

    Example:

Focus Foglights(98-04) €76 each in Ford(Ballysimon Rd, Limerick)

Valeo Spurious(or better quality possibly) €61 per pair. (Factors 150mtrs away)

    Madness!

That being said. If you need things like window washer unit you can never usually find these spurious and in Ford they were €2.36+vat each. At that price you would not complain.

Its on larger parts and body panels that they get you with their high margins.

€155 for a new gearbox mount from Toyota. Absolute madness for a lump of metal with a bit of rubber in. Unfortunately there is no spurious option. I would always go with them where they exist as main dealer parts are universally overpriced.

Quality of the rubber component varies massively. Not saying that the spurious will be poorer quality, just saying that cheap is not always best. Pick a cheap car versus an expensive one and note the difference in bushes state after 80k miles

Well this was a Toyota with original mount after 125km and the original rubber had detached from the metal it was so worn!

    +1

    I needed a HG for a peugeot 307 a few months back
    Dealer €43
    Spurious €75

The dealer price had been dropped as alot of these were coming back with oil leaks from the HG. So the modified gasket to fix the problem was reduced in price...
