I'm taking a trip through Shannon airport soon and have a stone/fossil ornament that I would like to bring as a gift for someone. It's about the size of a fist. Would it be likely to get confiscated at the security screening does anyone know?

If the officer believes the item poses a security risk (can be used as a weapon) she can block it, one hopes reason will prevail.

On a couple of occasions I've have seen officers at Shannon airport offer to hold items pending the travelers return (e.g. small tent with ground stakes)
