    pickups for strat usa 2001

new callahm bridge , and block , shielded cavitys .
at present i have a lollar in the bridge and stock usa s in the other positions .

stripped all the paint and she sings like an acoustic now .

    im down to two choices

    lindy fralin blues

    or kinman woodstocks .

( seymours , dimarzio, and fender off the list - unless someone can be very convincing .)

anyone else tried any boutique pups ?

I have tried the Kinman's, thought they sounded great, and love the whole noiseless thing in a studio situation. That said, some guys don't like noiseless, so horses for courses. There are so many great boutique pickup winders out there these days its hard to go wrong.

BTW, what has your experience with the Callaham hardware been like. I have a couple of his tunematics and they are the shizznit, a really musical mod that sorts out so much unwanted stuff that most of the tunematic equipped guitars I have played have suffered from.

Bare Knuckle do some nice sets, usually modelled after a particular sound. Tons of samples on their site too.

i will report back on the callaham stuff soon as ive put her back togehther
certainly looks and feels solid as fcuk .

have to shield and star ground her first .

then once i check noise levels will decide on pickups - id like fralins but i need the noise to be low first.

wow that callaham strat bridge and trem block really adds body and sustain to a strat - i coudlnt believe the difference .

if you have a strat , with the usa standard **** bridge on it - get one

you WILL NOT BE SORRY !

basically it sounds more paino like and full, and the notes ring on for ages .

    very very good .

    havent decided on pups yet

Do you set the bridge flush with the body?

yeah, always do , but i had it floatng today while setting it up and it sounnded waay better then as well, and stayed in tune.

now that ive locked her down and blocked it , its great .

i might go back to floating though , it sounded sweet .
