I am currently in receipt of JSB, I am only getting a reduced rate of €90 per week as my earnings in the relevant tax year were too low. I was advised to apply for JSA as it is means tested and i might get more money that way. I was told i would hear from the inspector and i would be invited for an interview with him/her for a means test. that was over six weeks ago. I went into my local office yesterday and the girl told me to come in today as the inspector would be there from 9-12. I met with him today and he took some details, namely my phone number and address and told me he would look up my form and he would be in touch with me. He asked for exact directions to my house, and i asked if he would call to my house and he said "he might or he might just give me a ring".

Is it the norm to call out to peoples houses? I was expecting that I would be called for an interview with him? surely they cant call to everyones homes?? I dont have anythig to hide but i am concerned about him turining up randomly some day

as far as i know they do just turn up un announced..more often then not they will call before hand to make sure you are there but if they can't get through on the phone they will arrive on the door step

yeah the inspector called to my house for the interview. I received a letter beforehand advising of the date and time he would call tho, so id expect you'd get the same. They are so busy they certainly dont want to be wasting time calling out to people who mightnt even be home.
He basically just asked for my p45, proof of savings, if i had any assets etc..the same type of stuff you get asked at the dole office when you apply anyway. He was only there about 5mins.
