Oven - Burning my Cakes

Hi, I'm wondering does anyone have a similar problem to mine.

I have a tricity bendix oven, that's about 5 years old. From day 1, I could not cook sponges or cakes as it burns them.

The last time a cooked a sponge cake, it burned the outside and the inside was raw. Same with queen cakes recently. I always set the oven at 100deg C which is the lowest setting but food still get's burned.

Could it be a thermostat problem?

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks all.

Is it fan assisted. If so try it with the fan assistance off.

How does other food cook in the oven?

Maybe you could get a thermometer and measure the oven temperature to compare it with the set temperature. This will tell you if the thermostat is faulty. It may help you discover the offset of a faulty stat and adjust accordingly.

Yes, it's fan assisted. How I'd turn it off, I've no idea! I actually thought of buying a thermostat, might give it a go. It burns most food if I'm not careful.

I have to watch food like a hawk all the time!:mad:

I'd completely bypass the thermostat, it's obvious if a cake is burning at 100oc there is a problem.
Call a service guy before you burn the beef wellington next:-)

Your oven may have different settings on a dial represented by the symbols in the link > http://www.franke.co.uk/page.aspx?sp=380

It does sound like a faulty stat. It mightn't be a bad idea to get someone to look at it.
