Any recommendations on hand grinders, be using it for coarser grinding, like french press...

I've seen the Hario Skerton recommended on a few forums, very hard to find though, only place i can find stock is barisimo.com.

any other manual grinders that folks would recommend??

A second hand one from ebay.

I have a couple of PeDe's that are pretty good.

Though, the Skerton is well worth it. Great design. The glass is so much cleaner than the little wooden boxes of older models etc.

Bit pricey but you know that what you are getting is quality since they are rather passionate at what they do.

I have a Kyocera Ceramic grinder for the office. It's a fantastic grinder. Easy to use, Easy to clean and it is comfortably to hold. It also dose directly into portafilter or Aeropress (suits the aeropress very well).
A colleague has a Hario mini and it works very well. It's larger than the Kyocera but grinds just as well.
