To clear up, both box and installation or free?

    Or just the installation?

Yeah both installation and the box are free

But the kicker is you have to sign up for a Sky HD pack which is €14.75 extra a month on top of the cost of your other packs and stay for another 12 months.

Only worthwhile if you intended to go HD anyway IMO.

I have the same vouchers for a Free SKY HD Box & installation for a new subscriber and for me. So if any more people interested, please PM me.

Ya just saw that there aswell, cant you just go for the HD pack for the first month and then cancel it. I dont mind being with them for another 12 months. Be handy to have double the storage then the standard Sky+ box also

Pity that theres a 2+ month wait to get upgraded to SKY HD, I placed an order for SKY HD last month and got the following update yesterday,

    Hello Mr DonJose,

We just wanted to let you know we’re progressing with your registration as fast as possible and that we expect you’ll be able to complete your order for a Sky+HD box in around 2 months...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,030 ✭✭✭Soarer

I paid €450 for my HD when I got it, and had to sign up for 12 months @ €15!

So a free box and €14.75 per month sounds good to me.

Lame, i ordered mine last Friday and its being installed Monday.

I think they should really offer HD for free if you subscribe to a premium package otherwise €14.75 a month which is going up on Jan 1st to €15 a month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,030 ✭✭✭Soarer

I wish they'd charge €30 a month for the HD pack, and gave all the HD channels as a package. That way you wouldn't have to pay €15 pm for each of Sports/Movies/Discovery, and €15 pm for the HD versions of same.

I never ever watch the SD version of the HD channels I have, so I don't see why I should be paying for them.

Is that a new installation or an upgrade.

Note: offer not valid if you already have Sky+.

    That's odd. Why is that?

Couldn't find that in the terms and conditions I have, where did you see it JDxtra?

I do see that the free installation is only valid for existing customers if they take both the HD pack and multiroom!

If you get HD in both rooms do you pay 2 x €14.95 or just once?

I phoned up the local independent sky installers and I'm getting Sky HD next thursday, happy days. Sky are pissing me off, if I was a new customer I could have gotten it installed on 4th of september via Sky, they don't seem to give a crap about existing customers, for that reason I have to go the route of independent installer, which is what one of sky's employees recommended.

Hmm, not sure but i presume if you cough up for 2 HD boxes you would just have to pay 15 for HD and 15 for multiroom (which is what ill be paying now anyway) because your multiroom sub mirrors your main sub exactly, i think.

Neat way of extending your commitment to 14+ months 'cos you can be sure the clock won't start until after the installation.

Has anyone had luck with cancelling sky and another householder joining as a "new customer"?

Always the way with new technology, It wasnt that long ago when the standard sky+ box was that kinda price.

    I haven't, but...

I've been with them for years. I rang to cancel the other day (our HD box is acting the maggot), and was told that since I've been with them for so long, I could have a complimentary engineers visit to fix it! Should be costing €100.

So I'd imagine if you rang saying you want to cancel as you want HD but the special offers are all for new customers, they'll do something for ya.

The reason I said to say you want to cancel is you get through to their call centre in Cork. Makes things a lot easier for haggling/arguing.

Yep, I cancelled and got a new connection with the wife's details (but she did keep her maiden name when we got married:rolleyes:)

If your re-applying with the same surname, if its questioned you could always have a story lined up such as your a new tenant at that address and by coincidence you share the same surname as the previous tenant or you threw your husband out of the house, the cheating git, and he took the box with him, sure he couln't be missing his fecking football etc. ;)

:D, brilliant, going to use that one.
