Facebook 3.0

Hi all,

Facebook 3.0 is out for the iPhone.

Just using it now - massive improvement on the old one. No push notifications but thats coming in 3.1 seemingly.

Anyone else using it? What do ye think?

Hmmm not sure - there is no photos section - when you click photos you just get your own - or am I missing something?

Looks very cool. Slighlty confusing but just guess I was used to old way

Downloaded this, this morning. It's a big improvement. Not sure I'd want push notifications though.

Clicking the "News Feed" button in the top right corner - brings up the choices of photos/status updates/etc

It's very good. Runs faster than the actual facebook website for me.

I was wondering was I imagining that! Nice to know I wasn't

Not sure if it was in the last one, but when you go to friends list now, if they have their number on the profile you can text / call them when you press the phone icon you the option. Nice.

Am I missing something. I got this months back. Am I missing an update? Its not offering me an update.

If u delete facebook from your phone and then download it again from the app store u'll have the new version.

No need to delete the original, just search for facebook and it will overwrite the old 'un. Meh, either way i suppose

Agreed it's a substantial improvement, but I don't see any push notifications in either the app, or in settings?

Do you really want constant push notifications that "X superpoked Y" though?

I'm assuming (and hoping) that you can customize what notifications you get pushed, rather than turning them off completely or on with no fine control...

Yeah that's what I was thinking, it'd be a pain alright.

erm wouldn't push notifications be purely for the chat part?

i don't think the developers are that stupid, they know what would annoy normal users as they are normal users themselves.

Very impressed. This update was really needed (genuinely). Now I can see the results to "what tree are you" quizzes and everything :pac:

excellent upgrade. an amazing improvment. although i had to refresh the iTunes page, as refreshing my current apps detected no upgrade!

Facebook is not only an IM app though and I would expect push to do more than just be used for IM - but as mentioned, I'd like granular control over it, rather than a main on/off setting.

And trust me, developers do make stupid design decisions in software more often than you'd think .

new version is way better , much easier to use , ill be using facebook alot more now

Will take a bit of getting used to but a great update. Seems much faster than the old version.

Go into Friends from main screen, type name of friend you are searching but you need to be in the Everyone Tab in the top middle. When you find friend you wish to add, press their name and then add as Friend, this send the request to them...
