    hi

i realise i ask a lot here but u guys seem to be experts. iv recently started cycling the mountains(well from stocking lane to the viewing point with the ice cream van, at which point i die) on my mountain bike. I want to go further and I need to get a better more appropriate(skinny wheel) bike so I can get to where most of u guys are at. Im planning on taking complete advantage of this cycle to work scheme to help me get this bike, so iv about a grand to play around with.what advice would you give to me? thanks :D

    Seem is right!

Have a look here. There's a few bikes listed there under 1000 and some have reviews:

    and links to shops here:

My bike(Giant SCR) was 900 quid last year and it got me through the WW200 and various other sportives. Had planned to race on it but the racing didn't happen for other reasons.

Irish shops are pretty much out of '09 stock in this price range, but you might get something '09 discounted online. The 2010 bikes will be in shops v soon, if they aren't already.

Better to narrow it down to a few bikes you like and comeback with more specific questions on those bikes.
