I'm considering buying a crew cab pickup,03/05 I won't be doing any offroad work just carrying my tools and equipment and the odd bit of towing
I would like opinions on the following.
    Nissan Navara
    Mitsubishi L200
    Toyota Hilux
    Ford Ranger
    Isuzu D Max
    Mazda B2500

    My thoughts:

Navara: nice power from a 2.5 but too many timing chain/turbo worries for me.
L200: turning circle of a ship, and cramped in the back also underpowered and heavy on fuel.
Hilux: only 89bhp, but pretty bulletproof once it's fed proper diesel
    Ford Ranger: see Mazda B2500
Isuzu D Max: said to be quite good, but I'm not so sure...
Mazda B2500: old fashioned, slow, reliable, plasticky, but very dependable.

I'd give the Dmax the thumbs up.

I have seen very little issues with them but do not get the poverty spec 2.5, 3.0l or nothing!

Go for an 06 L200 and you miss all the problems that colm_mcm pointed out with the <06 models.

After that I'd pick the Hi-lux.

    Whats your budget like?

I agree. I have an 06 L200 and it has never let me down. Not too hard on fuel, great towing ability and a good turning circle.

With that budget you should look at an older hilux or the mazda might be your best bet!
