I see Lidl are selling PMR handsets again from next Thursday.
    • Automatic noise suppression and VOX function
    • 8 channels/38 sub-channels
    • Volume control, button lock and stop watch
    • Headphone jack
    • Contents: 2 x handsets, 1 x charging base with external power supply, 8 x NiMH rechargeable batteries (AAA), 2 x headsets & 2 x removable belt clips
    • Available also in blue
    • Up to 8km range
€30 for a pair. Are these (and the headsets) any good?

I got their older set about a year or more ago and its been great. I had nothing but hassle with a motorola recently and compared to that, the Lidl radio's are so simple to use.

they perform pretty well and i was able to communicate in senny with one at distances of maybe 400m from the burger van to the gaming area, even with buildings in between.,:)

Masada, do you know what headsets they are compatable with?

I have a set of Lidl radios from a few years back and they have done me fine. Use them up mountains, down caves, on motorbike, wet, dry, no worries. They interoperate with other PMRs ok (I've used them with Cobras and Motorola Talkabouts).

I have no doubt the XTRs are very good, and would have better range, etc... but for the price, the lidl ones can't be beat.

That being said, everytime they come out, they are slightly different to the last ones (newer models) - so I can only vouch for older ones. I'm gonna pick up a new pair anyway (Lost one of my old ones somewhere....)

Edit: And having looked at the ad now, they are completly different (externally anyway) to the ones I have...

Went into Lidl today. Got me these. For €30 why not! 8 main channels, each with their own subchannels.

Included headset isn't great. Earpiece is bad quality. Sound quality is ok though. 2.5mm jacks.

Supports VOX. Seems they're just like cheap Binatone Terrain 550 clones! The headsets with the Lidl one's also work with the Binatone's from what I see!
