Recommedend an automatic diesel..no Fiats or Vw's!!

Looking for an automatic diesel and have 6000 to spend. Deffo don't want a Fiat and i'm not feeling Vw's?!!

If your looking for good mpg in an automatic don't rule out a prius
you would just about get last model for 6k very low vrt on imports

No Fiat diesel or no VW diesel means;
no Audi, no Seat, no Skoda, no Dodge, no Saab, no Alfa, no to most Opels ...after that it gets a bit hazy and depends on the model and year

I'm open to correction here but most modern diesels use Fiat technology in the common rail diesels?

Also, arn't most small diesels a combined Fiat/PSA design?

There is and was generally nothing wrong with Fiat engines, it was the rest of the car that let the side down (although I believe that modern Fiats are quite reliable)

rover 75 cdti connoisseur se- 131 hp version (cdti) or 110 hp version (cdt) of current 2 litre bmw diesel engine with a switchable jatco (nissan) gearbox . ive got one . its brill and the switchable (sport/eco/winter) gearbox is a lot better than the stupid tiptronic ones they flog nowadays. there was a discussion about them a while back. the gist of it was that they are very reliable , parts are no problem , anyone who ever owned one loved it and lots of people who probaly know nothing about them dont.
