Ok, I dont know if it fits in volunteerism, so move if you want, but anyway..

I volunteer in a youth club, i used to work there for a while and was told by my supervisor that doing a TCI course would really help with dealing with young people with challenging behaviour.
However, now that i volunteer, I dont get to go to the training employed staff go to and I really want to do a TCI course to have on my CV, as I want to work in the area again.

does anyone know of any places that allow people from the general public to do these courses? preferably for free, but if you have to pay, no worries.

Hmm I only see it as part of a course like nursing/social work, haven't seen it as an individual training course...but it may be worth contacting organisations like the Simon community, and their training training division in case they can point you in the right direction of someonw to contact; I only have knowledge in brief solution focused therapy and Studio III (challenging behaviours) both both haven't been available to the general public per se an both come as part of a bigger picture, i.e as part of a course..

You might consider doing a course like counselling/intervention management thatincludes a therapeutic intervention?

I know that the HSE training unit provide TCI training so you could enquire with them whether they would provide it to a volunteer.
As far as I know, although workers don't pay for it- it can be quite an expensive thing to fund.
Do you have the time/energy to maybe go on a relief panel or do some agency work? You could probably get the training quite easily that way. I think it may work best for you if you're affiliated with some organisation!
