Missing girl 'found 18 years on'

A woman who walked into a US police station claiming she was kidnapped 18 years ago is likely to be telling the truth, police in California say. DNA tests were being carried out, local police said, with officers almost certain that the results will back up the woman's story.
Jaycee Lee Dugard, 11, disappeared in 1991 from outside her Lake Tahoe home, apparently taken by two men.
Two men are reported to have been taken into custody, US reports say.

    The Austrian syndrome repeats.

    Scary!

According to the Associated Press news agency, Mr Probyn was watching back in 1991 as the young girl was taken away by two unidentified men.

I see on Googling that there's all kinds of sordid crap with this case, even some where the parents allegedly sold her to pay for their drug debts.

At least she's alive. It's a refreshing thing to hear somebody missing turn up alive and safe after such a long time.

It was more Fritzlitus I was thinking of but couldn't remember the name when I typed it.

Couldn't be arsed to google it either!! :)

Now we have more info, it appears to be a very similar case - except she was kidnapped and not their daughter.

The poison was obviously being spread by some vicious individual who had jumped to some seriously wrong conclusion, as per this thread that kicked off back in 2004.

Needless to say, the thread has just been woken up again, for the sole purpose of having a go at said anonymous vicious individual, who has probably long since disappeared from that particular forum.:pac:

Or then again, perhaps the kidnapper posted the accusation?

If he needs a device he's hardly doing it with his mind now is he.

That's akin to me saying, "I can control the television with my mind".

How the **** can a wife agree to something like that?
"Honey, let's kidnap a child whom I will rape and keep captive".
"Ok, husband, whatever you say dear"

Probably the same reason why said rape victim stayed put in his back yard for 18 years, brainwashing

They have a telephone interview with him on the BBC site.

Absolute nutjob I'd say. He says that when it all comes out it's going to be a really heartwarming story.

I was listening to a sherrif last night describing (in answer to a reporters question) the layout of the backyard of the scum that kidnapped her.
There was a yard within a yard - long story short. The sherrif went into great, great detail and even suggested ways in order how to hide things.
I was thinking to myself "hold on a minute! Should you really be broadcasting such techniques to the extent you are, across the nation!!!"

I was a bit more than surprised. Gawd knows there are still enough wackos out there that will be taking notes!

... although she said later she wasn't actually sympathetic to her captors - they just coerced her into saying she was.
Was the term "Stockholm Syndrome" coined after her case?

This kinda stuff is really scary tbh...
After the Austrian case and now this, only heaven knows what we are going to hear next? I believe that because of these cases, people should generally become more vigilant and observant and report incidences like this much earlier.

I personally would not be surprised if there are numerous cases like this all over the world still undetected and the victims are just going through hell perpetually...and the most intriguing and frustrating part of it is the lack of emotion or remorse that these evil people show.Crazy world!

Tim Allen, who did business with Mr Garrido's printing firm, told Associated Press that Mr Garrido gave the impression he was planning to establish a church. "He rambled. It made no sense," Mr Allen said.

A paedo running a church? This is most certainly unheard of.

He looks normal enough. Bit of a blank stare. Dead eyes. I could picture him giving a dreary oul sermon.
