    September -- your predictions please
    _________________________________

Deadline for entries -- end of the day, Tues 1st September.

usual penalties apply on 2 Sept, none accepted after that.

The first three questions are the usual, by now widely popular ones ...

    (1) mean temperature, deg C, average of highest and lowest monthly means

    (2) maximum for the month anywhere at reporting stations, deg C

    (3) minimum for the month anywhere at reporting stations, deg C

and the two bonus questions will be ...

    (4) predict the average rainfall as percentage of normal values (%)

    (5) predict the average sunshine hours as percentage of normal values (%)

Although I imagine all know this, 100% would represent bang on the average. There are something like 12 sites for rainfall and 8 for sunshine scattered around the country more or less covering all regions.

Have fun and watch for the August results around the 2nd or 3rd of Sept,

No worries, you are only minutes late, so I'll be lenient as usual. People know if they always enter two days into the month I may be inclined to reduce scores slightly, but nobody does that any more. I didn't check really closely but I think most of the regulars are in now and welcome to anyone new, let me know if you're not "really" new and had to change user IDs.

Must score August some time after a really late supper (out golfing all day) or perhaps tomorrow morning.

    (1) 13.1 C

    (2) 21.9 C (Shannon, 13th)

    (3) 2.0 C (Ballyhaise, also 13th  )

    (5) 8 stations had an average of 115% of normal sunshine.

Look for the scoring results later this evening on the scoring thread.
