Is there a market for an equestrian magazine in Ireland?
It would be targeted at everyone involved in the industry from weekend hackers to livery, showjumping, racing, carriage driving.
Would people be prepared to pay for a quarterly magazine by subscription and would people advertise?

I welcome any comments,:) positive or negative!

I dont know if you are aware that there are two Irish equestrian magazines, Ireland's Equestrian and Ireland's Horse and Pony or something like that.
I dont buy mags anymore just read what i want to read in the shop, there's not much in it for me to buy it.
And anyway there the internet equestrain forums like this that I find more interesting than the mags and very helpful for advice feedback etc.
Another idea would be an Irish equestrain website with pics and videos of irish riders horses etc that cover anything everything equine Irish.

The Irish Field covers a lot of the areas you've mentioned above, so I'm not sure how much another broad ranging publication would fair.

What if you were to focus on just one area and made your magazine a very specialist one? A smaller market, I know, but if it was really good the publication could possiby sell.

I used to buy them but they usually didn't really have much in them that was very interesting.

same here, i rarely buy anything off the shelf anymore..i do buy the Irish Field tho, occasionally the Farmers Journal and more rarely than often, Horse and Hound. But outside of that, i wouldnt buy any mags, everything i need to know is on the internet, and on the Field more so (added to that the SJI Bulletin),judging by other responses, i don't think there's much interest in horsey magazines nor need for them either these days..

There is also 'Irelands Horse Review' which is a monthly newspaper. It's €2.80.

I find it's the best one out there along with the 'Field'. It has a great piece on hunting each month.

I don't know how they get away with some of the stuff they print, but it's great for gossip!

I'm being careful here not to appear to be shilling

I’m not familiar with the equine industry but I would like to advertise a new product /service that would be of interest to the industry.

Could you suggest an Irish magazine or paper in which to advertise my product?
From the previous posts “the Field” seems to be the best choice, I would be grateful for other recommendations.

I'm going to lock this thread as it's over a year old. However, if you'd like to start a new thread, feel free to do so. And there should be no problem about shilling or pimping your services as you're only asking where's the best place to advertise your services (rather than advertising them here!)
