Good deal there with a Fender USA Start or Tele...it comes with a free Champion 600 - 5 watt class A. They'll actually give you a Champ 600 then and there and claim the free one themselves, handy bit of kit if you're into small amps for studio work.

went into x music a while ago looking for a toneport ux-8..it wasn't on display but i asked and one of the sales people brought one up from storage...
he said it was around €500... i was going to buy but decided not to. checked out music maker and there was about 12 on display on special offer - €345....so i made a purchase in music maker... some difference in price...

x music is good place to go and try out some gear though..

Special offer though, yeah? It's always good to shop around, and not to send this way off-topic, but I have to say X-Music are the closest thing this country has to a Guitar Center. There was a time in Dublin where you'd be hard-pushed to find a shop who'd do a simple set-up or a basic service on a guitar.

    + 1.

Yeah, it's great to have such a big place in Ireland. I just hope they don't end up with the same level of non-expertise as the GC guys. See link below from Gearslutz on Guitar Center misinformation (funny)

Haha that IS funny. Though I mean when I'm going to spend any considerable amount of money - on anything beyond a few strings or what have you - I always do my homework. GC always have a great stock, was in the GC in New Orleans last Summer, it's the third biggest in the country IIRC. The amount of stuff they had on-hand was pretty incredible.

Yeah, they are great. I was in the one on 14th Street (I think) in New York last year. I couldn't get over the amount of stuff they had. They also had a whole room devoted to acoustic guitars too. The also didn't mind me doing "Stairway to heaven" all day long:D

I found them very helpful and patient.

I have seen that promotion on a few of the UK sites also http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Fender-American-Standard-Stratocaster---MN~ID~8279.asp I think the offer is on all US Standrad Tele's and Strats

Wish I had €999 lying around for this right now, exactly what I'm looking for.

Yes it is, but I doubt you'd get a Strat for anything less than €999 even on Thomann and second you mail away for the amp whereas x music give you one then and there.
