farmers licence

    i read in a different thread on here something about a farmers licence as opposed to a proper shotgun licence. i assume it means yo can shoot on your own land only can someone clarify the matter for me as this type of licence would suit me down to the ground.

    I presume what you are referring to is the 2 types of shot gun licences in the old system.
    One which game shooters had to have for shooting ducks,pheasants,snipe etc the other "farmers" one was for the dispatch of vermin such as bunnies crows etc, but not for the shooting of game.

    Neither of which exist under the new system, although a category of 'Limited Firearm Certificate' is available, whatever that means. Anyone have detail on that?

    Anyhow, all Firearm Certificates from now on cost €80/3 years.

    Sure they do. The limited certificate does not allow you to shoot game but is perfect if you just want to control vermin on your land and don't want to join a gun club or get shooting permissions from other landowners.

    Ah, fair enough.

    It'll still be €80 for the three years though.
